‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 14 Motown Week Recap

April 24th, 2012 | gkadmin

The Empress of Soul kicks off the competitive dancing with a rumba to “My Girl.” She provides partner Tristan MacManus, and viewers, with a history lesson about the Temptations: The group originally was called the Primes, she’s toured with the Temptations, and her softball team used to beat the Temptations’ crew. Gladys’s brother Bubba, one of the original Pips, offers Tristan some Pip-themed dance lessons. The rumba has sass and Motown flair – love the way Gladys and Tristan walk/glide – and Gladys has much-improved arm extensions. Len says “if I were at home, I’d vote for you”. Score: 21 (Carrie Ann 7, Len 7, Bruno 7)

Dancing With the Stars Season 14: Week 4 Elimination Recap

April 11th, 2012 | gkadmin

Rock Week was rough on the competitors this week on “Dancing With The Stars.” Melissa Gilbert ended up with a mild concussion and whiplash after Monday’s night paso doble with partner Maks Chmerkovskiy. That’s not the kind of headbanging the producers intended. Gilbert got medical attention after the show. She didn’t appear Tuesday. But since she ended up being safe from elimination, she is expected to perform next week.

With a few exceptions, the dance routines were rather rocky. Week 4 gave us the lowest scores overall so far this season. It’s because the competitors are all doing well and tackling tougher routines. There is more room for error when the choreography gets more complicated and the dancers are expected to execute more difficult moves with greater speed.

By now you’re wondering who ended up in the bottom two. The shocker? The second highest scoring performer of the night, Disney star Roshon Fegan, found out that he and partner Chelsie Hightower were in jeopardy. The ballroom audience seemed stunned and unhappy. Many expected Gladys Knight to be one of them, but the lowest scorer last night was saved by her fans, and she and partner Tristan McManus will be back. In the end, Shepherd was sent home, to the sadness of her fellow performers who seem to genuinely love and appreciate her. There were many tears, but Shepherd was gracious and positive in her departing remarks, urging viewers to “run toward what scares you” because you reach the other side the reward is worth it.

“Dancing With the Stars” will be back for week 5 of Season 14 on Monday, April 16 at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time, on the ABC Television Network.

Gladys and Tristan Tango on Week 4 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’

April 10th, 2012 | gkadmin

Dancing with the Stars 2012 resumed April 9 with a round of routines set to great rock and roll songs. During her pre-dance segment, Gladys acknowledged that most people probably consider her a “good girl”, but reminded viewers that she’s the “grandma of rock and roll”. She went on to call the Tango a “nasty” dance, but hoped to “rock” the ballroom anyway. Go Gladys! A rock legend dancing to a rock legend’s song, that sounds promising. I love how Gladys shows her feistiness. Carrie Ann Inaba called it “by far your most ambitious routine” but didn’t think it all came together to form a cohesive whole. Len Goodman gave a nod to Tristan for the choreography and to Gladys for coping well with “very difficult” music. Bruno Tonioli thought the dance “lacked a little bit of impact” but still called it a job well done. Gladys was feisty and strong but some of the choreographic elements just didn’t make sense. Nevertheless, there were other couples that also had hard songs to dance to.

Gladys and Tristan earned 20 points for their Tango, which places them alone at the bottom of the week’s leaderboard. But fortunately for Gladys and Tristan, thanks to the weakest night of DWTS season 14 yet, the rest of the pack isn’t too far ahead: TV host Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy scored just 21 points, while three other couples–actress Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, telenovela star William Levy and Cheryl Burke, and actor Jaleel White and Kym Johnson–were each awarded totals of 22.

Dancing With the Stars Season 14: Week 3 Elimination Recap

April 4th, 2012 | gkadmin

There wasn’t a stand out ‘biggest loser’ on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this week, so it was anybody’s guess who would get eliminated!
Judge Len Goodman summed up last night’s performances as “unbelievable,” saying that he wished the producers would come down and roll things into next week “because nobody should go home.”  From there, highlight clips of the top four couples were shown.

At the bottom of the hour, it was time for the “Dancing With the Stars” latest results and elimination announcement.  The three couples in danger of being eliminated were revealed as Gladys Knight with dancer Tristan, Gavin DeGraw with dancer Karina, and Jack Wagner with dancer Anna. Over a loud round of cheers from the crowd, host Tom Bergeron and co-host revealed that Gladys and Tristan were safe for this week.  After talking to both contestants up for elimination, Tom revealed the big news that week 3′s elimination was Jack Wagner and dancer Anna.

Gladys and Tristan foxtrot on Week 3 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’

April 3rd, 2012 | gkadmin

Week 3: Foxtrot, Gladys Knight and Tristin MacManus

Last night the duo would be dancing the foxtrot as Gladys shared a story from her most memorable year. The year she chose was 1957, the year she first toured with the Pips. Gladys danced to the song “Cupid,” and the judges really, really loved it.  Scoring 24 points out of 30, the “Dancing With the Stars” judges had some very positive feedback for Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus after their performance. Carrie Ann liked her elegant frame and said Gladys dances like she sings. Len thought her frame was looking better, and he commented that he wants to be a Pip. Bruno said she was gorgeous, with grace and finesse.

Sherri Shepherd Practices Dance Moves on the Kymaro Rhythm Rocker

March 31st, 2012 | gkadmin

http://www.kymaro.com/?p=751

Glady’s competition Sherri Shepherd, got a head start on dance lessons while on her show The View.

Today was another day of big giveaways on ‘The View’ (Weekdays, Syndicated on ABC), but if someone wants the Rhythm Rocker that Sherri Shepherd demonstrated on the show, they may have a fight on their hands. Shepherd took quite a liking to the Rhythm Rocker today, a fitness product from Kymaro that is supposed to allow you to exercise by “dancing in place.”

And dance Shepherd did, rhythmically gyrating and putting on a show for the camera, as the spokesman encouraged her with quips like, “the rhythm is gonna get ya.” She worked the machine long and hard enough, seemingly enjoying herself the whole way through, that Whoopi Goldberg had to step away from the hilarious spectacle.

Gladys Knight: ‘I want the Dancing with the Stars trophy’

March 30th, 2012 | gkadmin

Gladys Knight has revealed that she is hoping to win Dancing with the Stars.

The singer, who is dancing with Tristan MacManus, told Access Hollywood that she would love to make it to the end of the competition. “I want the trophy,” she said. “But if I don’t get it, I want to make the journey the best that I can make it.”

Knight also described MacManus as the “best partner in the world”, saying: “The way he teaches, he’s very patient, but he’s direct.”

The Empress of Soul and MacManus picked up a score of 23 for their Cha Cha in the Dancing with the Stars premiere. Week two proved to be challenging with the Quickstep, the duo’s score dropped to 19.

The show airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
